After that you start the test and it takes a before image and initial settings. Distance to the target and insufficient lighting are two that I had to correct initially.

It connects easily enough and takes control of your camera, you run through some setup checks automatically and it informs you if some things are not right for the full test.

The camera needs to be on a solid tripod and horizontal to the target. You connect the computer camera after mounting the target in a well lit vertical surface. I printed out the Focus Target but might buy the $20 hard target when I next need to order some stuff from B&H.

I downloaded the Mac version of Focal Pro ($99). As I was a bit bored I did decide however to purchase the latest version of Reikan Focal to check out the Z7 and Z6 with my current selection of lenses. I've been very happy with the focusing accuracy of all my Z lenses and the F mount 300PF and the 500PF. I used Reikan Focal some years ago but used Lens Align more recently. In my DSLR days I always used to check the focussing accuracy of my lenses. I believe the Nikon Designers thought the same thing. Being a control systems design engineer I always try add additional capability and features into my systems if I believe at some point it will make my life easier by having them. Nikon added the ability to Fine Tune Lenses for a reason, yeah there's a lot of internet chatter about it, mostly by people that don't know what they're talking about. This is NOT a review of any kind, I'm just sharing my findings after a morning testing some of my lenses.
